Ownat recipes are full of carefully selected natural ingredients, very fresh, of quality and sourced locally, with all their nutritional value intact. Incorporated are fresh meats and fish that contain proteins of high biological value because they provide all the essential amino acids and are also more easily digested.

That’s why, in our delicious recipes, we use fresh quality natural ingredients with all their nutritional value. Recipes that your companion will love and help them stay in the best physical condition.

We are located in Lleida, a region that is extraordinarily rich in agricultural and livestock resources. This allows us to obtain a large proportion of essential ingredients such as meat, vegetables and cereals that are locally sourced, fresh and of unparalleled quality thanks to our commitment to nearby suppliers.

We carefully research and select the most suitable raw materials for each recipe, working together with our suppliers to obtain the ingredients that will provide the feed with the best flavour and nutritional value.

WHEN DO WE CONSIDER AN INGREDIENT TO BE NATURAL?

To consider that an ingredient is natural, we adhere to the FEDIAF (European Pet Food Industry) Code of Practice criteria, which defines it as follows:

The term natural should be used only to describe food components (derived from plants, animals, micro-organisms or minerals) to which NOTHING has been added or which have only undergone physical processing to make them usable in the production of food for dogs and cats while maintaining their natural composition.
Only the following physical processes are accepted: freezing, concentration, chemical-free extraction, drying, pasteurization or smoking, as long as they maintain the natural composition. Any chemical treatment or inclusion of genetically modified organisms excludes the use of the term ‘natural’.
When a complete pet food contains only ingredients that meet the definition given by FEDIAF, it can be described as ‘100% natural ‘, provided that all its ingredients are natural and have not undergone a different process than those allowed for natural components.
If, on the other hand, a dog and cat feed contains natural ingredients but they are not all natural ingredients, it should be referred to as “Made with natural ingredients”.

Preservatives have been used to extend the shelf life of the product, thus facilitating its distribution and use. Ownat replaces artificial preservatives with natural preservatives, extracted from vegetable oils and plants.

The colourants have a purely aesthetic function, without any nutritional value. That is why we have totally eliminated them from Ownat formulations.

Our recipes do not include any artificial additives that do not provide nutritional or functional value to the product.

WHAT KIND OF FRESH MEAT DOES OWNAT USE?

Mainly fresh chicken and turkey meat since these have proteins of greater biological value as they contain all the essential amino acids, as well as being more easily digestible.

In our recipes we use:

Muscles that are a source of proteins, fats, vitamins A, B, D and K, and minerals such as copper, chromium, iron, magnesium, potassium, selenium and zinc.
Viscera: incorporate essential vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and amino acids.
Bone and cartilage: they are a natural and easy to absorb source of minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium.
We never use feathers, legs and beaks.

In addition, for certain feed varieties, we use other fresh meats such as lamb and pork and fish, which also provide high biological value, to meet specific functional needs.
